I-64 in Huntington is finally back open after an overturned tractor trailer shut down the westbound lanes for several hours.
The wreck happened around 1 p.m. Monday near the rest stop by the Hal Greer Exit.
One eastbound lane was shut down for a short time, but the accident shut down all westbound lanes for more than six hours while crews cleaned up the mess.
Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
At least two people have been transported to the hospital after a semi-truck turned over on Interstate 64 near Huntington at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Emergency responders said the two were taken for minor injuries.
The West Virginia Department of Transportation said the westbound lanes of the interstate between exit 8 and 15 will remain closed for an additional two hours. Westbound traffic is being diverted off of I-64 at exit 15 and back onto the interstate at exit 8. Eastbound lanes are currently open, but moving slowly.
A dispatcher said the accident happened between a semi-truck carrying a crane and another vehicle in the westbound lanes near the Hal Greer exit and rest stop.
A heavy equipment accident has closed three lanes of traffic on Interstate 64 in Huntington.
Dispatchers said the accident involved a semi-truck hauling a crane and another vehicle about 1 p.m. Monday in the westbound lane of the interstate between the Hal Greer exit and the rest area.
Both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane between exits 8 (5th Street Hill) and 15 (29th Street) are closed while crews clean up the accident. It is not known at this time if there are any injuries.
