Belle , Kanawha County , West Virginia
Friday marks seven years since a Kanawha County mother disappeared, and was never heard from again.
Investigators say this is a case that has not gone cold.
Melanie Metheny, 21, disappeared on July 19, 2006. Her family never imagined that seven years later, they'd still be searching for her.
"We won't never quit. We won't never quit until we get her home," her grandmother Sandra Metheny says.
"This has been live for 7 years. It doesn't slow down. I'm out here 365 days a year, not just one," she says.
Her pictures still surround them, their pleas for help are still out there, but the break they've been hoping for is still yet to come.
"You can't live a normal life. Can't be happy. I'll never be happy until I find out what happened to her," says her father, James Metheny.
Melanie hasn't been seen since she dropped her three children off at daycare. Four days later, her car was found abandoned on Charleston's west side. It's a case the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department says it's determined to not let slip through the cracks.
"At least weekly they get some information. Some tip, some call, some e-mail, something along those lines," explains Cpl. Brian Humphreys.
Metheny believes someone is holding on to vital information. "Do the right thing. Somebody knows. They just need to come out with it so they can sleep at night," she says.
As for now, they'll continue their search for answers, and hope that next July 19th, things will be different.
"I just miss her, my heart just aches. It's like somebody cut a part of it out," her grandmother says.
There is a fundraiser, "Melanie's HOPE," at Coonskin Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It is at the Columbia Shelter. HOPE stands for "Help Our Pets Endure."
Proceeds will go toward animal rescue organizations.
There will be food, games, and fun activities for children.
