The clock is ticking – 49 days, 22 hours, 20 minutes and 17 seconds.
At the writing of this article, that is how much time is left before runners and walkers line up for the 41st edition of the Charleston Distance Run. WCHS and WVAH are proud sponsors of this historic event, and you don’t want to miss it when the gun goes off at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 31 on Kanawha Boulevard at the West Virginia Capitol.
Distance Run participants get to choose a distance that fits their fitness level, as the CDR offers a 15-mile run; three-person 15-mile relay; 5K run; and noncompetitive 5K and 10K walks.
All events finish at University of Charleston Stadium’s Laidley Field.
With the Charleston Distance Run, entrants get real value for their money. There is a pre-race pasta dinner at the Charleston Civic Center. Each participant receives a long-sleeve technical shirt and goodie bag and can compete for cash awards and prizes. A special finisher’s medal is presented to those who cross the line, and there are post-race refreshments and an awards ceremony where accomplishments are celebrated.
