The driver of the vehicle that crashed through Los Agaves restaurant in South Charleston on Wednesday has been cited for failing to maintain control of his vehicle.
South Charleston police said William Murray, 73 of Charleston was leaving the restaurant and told officers another car was parked to closely to his, so he entered through the passenger side and attempted to back his car out while leaning across the center console from the passenger seat. His sport utility vehicle slammed through the front wall of the restaurant at a high rate of speed. Police said Murray had not been drinking.
Police said nine people were in the area and suffered minor abrasions. A mother and child were taken to the hospital to be examined.
Failing to maintain control is a traffic violation.
