Kanawha County deputies are asking for help in finding three suspects in connection with a robbery and shooting incident that happened in Institute on July 4.
Stephen Humphries, 21, of Nitro told deputies he went to the West Dunbar-Institute area to look for his sister, when three men approached him and demanded his wallet. Deputies said he refused and one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot him in the leg. Humphries was able to return to his car and drive himself to Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Deputies are looking for three black males, each approximately 5 foot 11 inches tall. Deputies said one of the suspects has a medium build with medium length hair and was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. This suspect had the handgun and did the shooting, deputies said.
One of the other suspects was clean shaven and no further description, other than age and height was provided for the third suspect, deputies said.

Police were called to Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston after Steven Humphries, 21, got himself to the hospital after being wounded. Deputies were called in after the St. Albans man reported he had been shot in the 500 block of Curtis Lane in Institute just after noon. Humphries said he refused to comply with a robber's demand and was shot.
“I was going around looking for my sister, and I got out and they wanted all my stuff,
Humphries said. “I wouldn't give it up and they shot me. I drove off real quick.”
Humphries said two other men not involved in the shooting jumped him as he was leaving the hospital.
He complained that no one tried to help him. He said he thinks the man confronted him because he was wearing only boxer shorts after his bloody clothing was removed in the ER.
