Kanawha County continues efforts to go green.
The county’s commission unveiled its newest alternative fuel vehicles Wednesday.
The county has added a 2013 compressed natural gas bi-fueled Chevy Tahoe and a 2013 propane bi-fueled Ford F-150 to its vehicle fleet.
Commissioners also showed off the county's CNG fuelmaker, which will service those vehicles.
Commissioner Dave Hardy said there are many reasons to change to natural gas.
"Local gas coming from West Virginia, it runs cleaner, and of course it's going to be cheaper,” Hardy said. “At least that’s what the experts tell us.
The county's alternative fuel efforts are part of the Kanawha Converts initiative, which was designed to take advantage of natural gas in the Marcellus and Utica shale formations for an alternative, more cost efficient and cleaner transportation fuel.
