Parkersburg, Wood County , West Virginia
Three men were arrested Wednesday morning in Wood County after State Police said they tried to pick up a package containing suspected bath salts.
According to a news release from State Police, investigators looking into the distribution in the area said they had located a suspicious package from China that had been sent to the Davisville post office.
Investigators said three suspects, Chad Christopher True, 33, of Davisville, Dwayne Mark Karr Jr., 23, of Parkersburg and Brian Duane Shann, 38, of Parkersburg, arrived at the post office to pick up the package under a false identity. The suspects were known to police through surveillance, investigators said.
The men were then confronted and a search warrant was executed. Investigators said the package contained $30,000 worth of bath salts.
The suspects were charged with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
After the arrests of the suspects, a search warrant was executed at True’s residence, State Police Sgt. B.S. Snodgrass said. Investigators said they found a stolen vehicle at the residence. Charges related to the vehicle are pending, State Police said.
The Parkersburg detachment of the West Virginia State Police, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Parkersburg Police Department Detective Division, the Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force, and the FBI took part in the investigation.
