Lawmakers want an area in central West Virginia named in honor of two state troopers murdered there.
A unanimous House of Delegate endorsed a measure Friday calling the Interstate 79 interchange at Wallback the State Police Cpl. Marshall Lee Bailey and Trooper Eric Michael Workman Memorial Interchange.
Bailey and Workman were fatally shot in August following a traffic stop near that interchange. Their assailant also shot and wounded a Roane County deputy and a tow truck driver before he was killed in a shootout with other officers.
Family members of Bailey and Workman were joined by State Police Superintendent Col. Jay Smithers and a number of other troopers for Friday's ceremony in the House of Delegates Chamber. The resolution advances to the Senate.
