MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS Winter Weather Causes Several Accidents Throughout Region

The weather caused a big mess on some major roadways Sunday afternoon.
More than a dozen accidents were reported on Interstates 64, 77 and 79, with the Sissonville and Clendenin areas being hit hardest.
Eyewitness News Photographer Bill Oldani was on hand for a crash near mile marker 116 on I-77 in the Sissonville area. He was obtaining video of another crash, which had just happened, when another car flipped onto its top.
Oldani and a nursing student, Bryan Oosthuizen, who came upon the accident, helped treat the victim until police arrived. Officials said the driver will be all right.
Dispatchers urged everyone to use extreme caution and watch out for black ice.
Emergency crews were on the scene of several serious throughout the region Sunday.
A crash was reported on Interstate 77 northbound near Sissonville, where the driver of a Sedan ended up in the median. Nobody was reported hurt.
Another accident was reported on U.S. Route 60 near Culloden. At least one person was seriously injured.
Numerous other crashes were reported Sunday afternoon, most likely caused by the precipitation, which created slick conditions and black ice in some areas.
Additional accidents were reported on Interstate 77 near Sissonville and Interstate 79 near Clendenin. Drivers were urged to avoid the areas.
