A group home for girls got a boost for a new education center Friday.
The Golden Girls group home in Ceredo was given $50,000 from the AEP Foundation. The money will help improve and renovate a new educational center for the 24 girls who live at the home. The girls, who are between 12 and 18 years old, have been removed from their family for various reasons.
An AEP spokesperson hopes the education center will give the girls a good start in life
"I hope that they take away that they aren't alone and that there are people out there who care about them,” said Appalachian Power President and CEO Charles Patton. “That's why we give through the foundation."
The group home has helped girls in the region for more than 30 years.
