Stopping the circle of violence was the theme at a St. Albans elementary school Thursday.
Members of Butch Hiles Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA spoke to students at George C. Weimer Elementary School.
They talked about the importance of not bullying their fellow classmates, and shared stories of overcoming obstacles in their life by focusing on the positive.
“I'm always amazed at the interviews I see of the fighters,” said teacher Brandi Wright. “They're such sensitive, kind people. I wanted my kids to see that you can be a strong guy, and still be a good citizen, a good person and show good sportsmanship, no matter where you are.”
In his gym, Hiles teaches not just mixed martial arts, but also self-defense and anti-bullying.
