After overseeing a major turnaround at an agency once plagued by scandal, David Oliverio is out as head of West Virginia's General Services Division.
Tomblin administration officials declined to comment Monday on the departure of Oliverio, who was hired just over seven years ago.
General Services maintains state-owned property including the West Virginia Capitol and its campus. Oliverio arrived in February 2006 after investigations uncovered numerous problems at the agency.
Chronic neglect threatened the Capitol and other buildings on campus. Supervisors were abusing overtime. One employee was pirating movies with agency equipment. The Capitol cafeteria was closed and gutted in the wake of 50 health code violations.
Oliverio and then-Administration Secretary Rob Ferguson oversaw reforms that included a routine maintenance plan and hiring engineers and other professionals.
