A former Kanawha County school bus driver pleaded guilty Monday morning to sexual abuse and was sentenced to prison.
Samuel Larry Burkhamer was sentenced in Kanawha Circuit Court to five to 25 years in prison. He will serve 25 years of supervised release when he gets out of prison.
Burkhamer was accused of befriending a girl on Facebook. A criminal complaint said the girl knew his stepdaughter. The complaint alleges they exchanged cell phone numbers and that Burkhamer sent the pre-teen explicit messages asking for sexual favors.
The criminal complaint said he was taken to the South Charleston detachment, where he admitted to telling the girl he would like to meet up with her so that she could perform sexual acts on him. The criminal complaint also alleges that Burkhamer admitted to conducting web searches that may contain child erotica and pornography and that Burkhamer consented to give up his cell phones and computers.
