Authorities Locate Cabell Murder Suspect In Georgia

Authorities have located a suspect in Georgia who was being sought in a Cabell County murder.

Tyerus "Tank" Hayes, of Georgia was arrested on Saturday by U.S. marshals in Gwinnett County. West Virginia state troopers said Hayes is being extradited from Georgia and is expected to be back in Huntington by Saturday evening to face murder charges.

The murder charge stems from a Jan. 2 shooting at the Forrest Bluff Apartment Complex in Barboursville. Christopher Carter, 25, of Huntington died after being shot several times.

Investigators are looking for another suspect from Detroit, Terry "Boots" Morton, in connection with the shooting.



West Virginia State Police are searching for two men in connection with a shooting in which a Huntington man died.

Troopers are looking for Terry “Boots” Morton of Detroit and Tyerus “Tank” Hayes of Georgia.

The shooting happened on Wednesday at the Forrest Bluff Apartment Complex between Huntington and Barboursville. Christopher Carter, 25, of Huntington died after being shot several times.

On Thursday, another man authorities said was at the scene of the shooting, Jonathan Yeager, 27, of Huntington, was arrested. Yeager was charged with possession with the intent to deliver after troopers said they found heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia in his home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Virginia State Police Huntington detachment.



West Virginia State Police have arrested a man they say was at the scene of a Cabell County murder, and he has now faces a drug charge. Two other suspects are still being sought in connection with the slaying.

State Police arrested Jonathan Yeager, 27, of Huntington on Thursday morning. He has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. During a search of his home, troopers said they found heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia. State Police said Yeager was at the scene of the shooting Wednesday evening. Yeager is being held at the Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Christopher Carter, 25, of Huntington died early Thursday from injuries he received in the shooting at Forest Buff Apartment Complex.

Police are still looking for two men in connection with the murder. It was Cabell County's first murder of 2013. Keep checking wchstv.com for updates.




A man was shot to death on Wednesday night, and investigators are now on the hunt for three men who could be responsible.

State police say 25-year old Christopher Carter was killed after being shot three times. It happened around 8:45 at the Forest Buff Apartment Complex between Huntington and Barboursville.

Investigators believe it could be drug related. They say Carter has a criminal history of drugs.

But troopers are still trying to figure out what led to the violence. "The challenge is its like a puzzle. Trying to get all the information we can, witnesses, crime scene information," said Sgt. Robert Perry.

The three suspects are two black men and one white man. Their names haven't been released.
