A Kanawha County sheriff’s deputy arrested a Dunbar man after the officer’s license plate reader system alerted him that he had just passed a wanted person, the sheriff’s office said.
Chyra Raquel Ellis, 29, of Dunbar was wanted for failure to pay child support and was arrested Monday afternoon on Route 25 in Dunbar, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. J.H. Thaxton was on routine patrol on Route 25 when he was alerted by his license plate reader and
stopped the vehicle. Ellis was arrested and taken directly to Kanawha County Family Court in Charleston, the release said.
The license plate reader system reads all vehicle registration plates and alerts police officers when people are wanted by authorities.
