One man was arrested after Kanawha County deputies said they discovered marijuana inside his vehicle.
William James Shaw, 29, of Charleston was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
About 8 p.m. Sunday, Deputy M.S. Sims responded to the 200 block of Fern Ridge Drive in Charleston, for a suspicious vehicle complaint. People in the area called 911, saying the driver of the red Ford car was driving through the neighborhood, waiving a pistol at them, according to a release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
When Deputy Sims stopped Shaw's vehicle, Shaw denied having any weapons inside the vehicle, but admitted to having marijuana under the driver's seat.
Deputy C.D. Lyons arrived with his K-9 Phoenix to examine the vehicle. K-9 Phoenix then “alerted” on the driver’s door indicating the presence of narcotics. That's where deputies discovered nearly 2 ounces of marijuana, scales and other paraphernalia used in drug sells. Street value of the marijuana was about $500.00, deputies said.
