Neighbors in Pinch are coming together to bring an end to crime, and are fighting back after two violent incidents.
There have been two home invasions in the town. Both happened just a couple of streets apart.
Early Thursday, Frank Mace was beaten with a crowbar after he said two men tried to break into his home. Then, that night, his 74-year-old neighbor was beaten so badly during a home invasion that she remains in the hospital. She is recovering and is listed in serious condition.
No arrests have been made in either crime, and police say they could be related. Investigators said they have good leads.
Officials at Saturday's meeting are urging their neighbors to lock their doors, keep the porch lights on and check on elderly neighbors - especially those who live alone.
“Above all, be aware of your surroundings, pay attention to what's abnormal in the neighborhood,” said Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. “Write things down and keep a good record of it.”
