Don't be surprised if you see workers along Route 35 in Putnam County over the next several months. Upgrades are currently under way on a two-mile stretch of 35 from Plantation Road to the Buffalo Bridge.
The Division of Highways recently finished work on Route 35 in Mason County from Plantation Road to Beach Hill.
The stretch in Putnam County will be widened, and culverts will be repaired.
People who live nearby said there have been several accidents in this location, and it's extremely dangerous.
"Again, I fall back to the federal government. We need their assistance. We need someone in the state to take the federal funds and spend them appropriately instead of being just thrown away to widen the road. It really doesn't need to be widened; it just needs to be deleted," Steven Fellure of Putnam County said.
The repairs should be finished by fall of this year.
