Traffic along Interstate 64 eastbound in Putnam and Kanawha counties was moving slowly for the Tuesday morning commute.
The slowdown was caused by multiple crashes near the Nitro-Poca exit of I-64, dispatchers said.
The first crash was reported about 7:15 a.m., and the second accident was reported about 7:40 a.m, according to alerts from Kanawha County dispatchers.
The eastbound lanes reopened about 8 a.m. and all accidents were cleaned up by about 8:30 a.m. Traffic was still moving extremely slow, however. Motorists were being asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
