The Montclaire String Quartet played at the University of Charleston Sunday.
The quartet, in its 23rd year, is comprised of members of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. A large part of their mission is to bring classical music to those across the state.
“For most musicians, this is something that starts when they are very young,” said David Gross, president of the symphony. “The amount of time that they devote to it is remarkable. It is something that most musicians will practice upwards of six to eight hours a day.”
The quartet plays in Charleston as well as several recitals throughout the state.
