The Federal Aviation Administration could close some local airports.
The agency might not have a choice because of drastic budget cuts. The FAA needs to cut $600 million from its budget for the rest of this fiscal year as a result of a possible federal budget sequestration on March 1.
It is considering furloughing 47,000 employees for one day per pay period starting in April.
It could also close 100 air traffic control facilities, eliminate the overnight shift at 60 facilities and reduce support for all air traffic control equipment.
Overnight shifts could be eliminated are Yeager and Tri-State airports.
A majority of smaller air traffic control facilities across the mountain state could close completely.
