More than 40 high school freshmen from across Putnam County came together to learn how to be leaders.
The event was part of the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Workshop and was held at Winfield High School.
West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant met with the students, and discussed leadership skills, her duties as secretary of state, and the current Legislative session with the students.
The mission of the workshop was to inspire and develop the youth and volunteers, which would lead to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.
"We've given them ideas about what they can do, and ways they can go out in the community, filling that passion for being an activist or a community leader," said Bennett Anderson, the workshop’s director.
