The Athens County Sheriff's Department said it arrested two people in connection to a large-scale meth operation that was active while two children were present.
David Schuetzman, 50, of Athens and Samantha Hummel, 25, of Glouster were charged with possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and endangering children.
The Narcotics Enforcement Team searched a home on Canaanville Road in Athens at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the Athens County Sheriff's Department. Officers said they found a meth lab and 16 bottles of what they believed was meth.
Two children and an elderly woman were inside the home at the time, the release said. The children were taken to a hospital to be examined.
