A Boone County middle school is in the running to win thousands of dollars to support its technology efforts.
Madison Middle School has made it to the finals for the national Samsung "Solve for Tomorrow" contest.
The contest awards tech equipment to chosen K-12 schools with projects that apply science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects in an attempt to improve their communities.
More than 1,500 application essays were submitted as part of the contest and Madison Middle School was chosen as one of the top 75 that received production kits with necessary tools to enter the contest.
The students proposed a project to study the Little Coal River.
Last week, Samsung announced the top 15 finalists and posted each school's project on the "Solve for Tomorrow" website for public voting. The top five videos with the most online votes will will receive $110,000 technology grants.
