The woman charged with murdering her husband as he lay in intensive care at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital was convicted of second-degree murder.
On Thursday, a Kanawha Circuit Court jury convicted Rhonda Stewart of Charleston.
Stewart and the victim were married for 37 years. They had been separated for three years at the time of the deadly encounter in the summer of 2009.
She could spend between 10 and 40 years in prison when sentenced in March, but the judge may also consider alternate sentences including home confinement.
