A Mason County woman was killed after rushing floodwaters swept her away.
Jessica Harris, 50, of Leon was killed on Wednesday, Mason County Sheriff Greg Powers said. Powers said the woman was trying to get to her car on Beech Fork Road in Leon when she was caught in floodwaters caused by a storm with heavy rains.
The sheriff's department and firefighters searched for the woman for several hours. She was eventually found 100 yards away from her home.
