Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man and have a warrant for a second suspect after they said they found a methamphetamine laboratory in Sissonville.
Jamie Lee Harmon, 35, was charged Tuesday with attempting to operate a clandestine lab, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office said deputies have a warrant for the arrest of a second suspect, Shane Steven Thaxton, 36, on a charge of attempting to operate a clandestine lab.
The release said members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office STOP (Sheriff’s Tactical Operations Patrol) Team and Criminal Investigation Section went Tuesday evening to 1701 Pine Valley Drive at Pine Valley Trailer Park in Sissonville. The deputies had information that a meth lab was at that location.
One of the residents, Thaxton, is on home confinement in Kanawha County on a conviction for attempting to operate a clandestine lab. The release said Thaxton was not home, but Harmon was there and spoke with the deputies.
Thaxton’s home confinement officer arrived and tried to find Thaxton. Deputies said they found evidence a meth lab had been set up, and a search warrant was obtained. Components of a clandestine lab were located during the search, the release said.
Harmon was arrested and arraigned by Magistrate Kim Aaron, who set his bond at $25,000 or 10 percent cash. Harmon was then taken to South Central Regional Jail.
Anyone with information on Thaxton is asked to call 304-357-0169.
