Police say a man admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana before leading them on a high speed chase Wednesday morning.
Renardo Owens, 38, is charged with fleeing while DUI.
Detective J.K. Halstead said Owens was pulled over on I-77 near Greenbrier Street for speeding. After he was asked to show his driver's license, police say he drove off and led them on a chase along I-77 North.
Owens finally came to a stop at the I-77/I-79 split. Police were forced to pull Owens out of the car at gunpoint.
Court documents show Owens admitted to police that he had been drinking and smoking marijuana.
