Ironton , Lawrence County , Ohio
A man was killed, one man injured and another man arrested after a family dispute in Lawrence County, Ohio.
John A. McKnight, 48, of Ironton was killed after being shot in the chest by a shotgun on Tuesday. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested Rodney E. DeLawder, 33, and charged him with murder and discharging a firearm into a home, according to a news release from the sheriff's department. Larry J. McKnight, 46, received injuries during an assault.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless said deputies responded to a home in the 2900 block of state Route 243 in Ironton at 6 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, deputies found John McKnight shot; he was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release said.
Deputies said a fight between family members living at the address led to the shooting. Deputies believe DeLawder assaulted Larry McKnight and shot John McKnight. Larry McKnight was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in Ironton. DeLawder was found at his mother's house and was arrested, the news release said. Details about the relationships between the men are unknown at this time.
John McKnight's body was taken to Franklin County, Ohio, for an autopsy. More charges against DeLawder could be pending.

It happened on Route 243, about a mile outside of Coal Grove, around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless tells Eyewitness News that dispatchers got a call about a domestic dispute. A few minutes later, they received a second call that shots had been fired.
Lawless says when deputies arrived at the home, they found an unresponsive white male laying face down in the kitchen with a gunshot wound. The victim had allegedly been shot by another relative.
The suspect was found a short time later at his mother's house near Ironton. He was arrested; however, charges are pending because investigators are trying determine if the shooting was murder or aggravated murder.
The names of the suspect and the victim have not been released, but investigators do believe alcohol played a role in the shooting.
