A stabbing suspect is on the run and a nightclub known for trouble won't be in business, at least for the next ten days. The ABCA has now stepped into the investigation and ordered the liquor license for Club Impulse be suspended immediately. "If somebody says Impluse, it's not good news," says Charleston Mayor Danny Jones Impulse's problems with the city are nothing new. The club has been linked to numerous violent incidents, but this weekend's latest has now prompted state action. Just before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, freshman UC linebacker Kevin Clemens, 18, was stabbed several times in the stomach. Charleston Police released surveillance video of the incident on Monday. You can see the suspect who was wearing a white shirt, and Clemens get into an altercation just outside the club's front door. It's then believed the suspect stabbed Clemens in the stomach and fled. "In my opinion, they need to shut this place down...lock it up," said a man who lives up the street. Jones is calling for Impulse's closure and questions owner Janet Amore's decision to allow underage people in the bar, although allowing patrons over the age of 18 is not illegal. "You would have to be foolish to not understand what's going on in there and by allowing it to continue, I feel like we're facilitating it," said the mayor. In the order, ABCA commissioners say public safety is an issue if the club continues to operate. They note that there is a continuous pattern of fights, violence, and stabbings occurring at or near the nightclub. "It reflects terribly on Capitol Street, it reflects terribly on the city and then, what it does, is it takes a lot of our resources where we should be controlling neighborhoods," explained Charleston Police Chief Brent Webster. "For us, it's just not worth it anymore." Eyewitness News was not able to get in touch with Amores. Late Monday, police were in the process of getting a warrant for the suspect's arrest. His name has not yet been released. The Alcohol Beverage Control Administration on Monday suspended the liquor license of a Charleston nightclub for a 10-day cooling off period in the wake of a stabbing outside the club.
