As the region braced for snowfall Friday, a number of school systems were closing schools early.
Schools in Kanawha and Lincoln counties announced they were closing schools three hours early. Kanawha County Schools also was canceling midday classes. Cabell County and Jackson, Ohio, city schools were closing two hours early. Jackson County Schools was closing at 12:30 p.m.

The school closings come as the area prepared for 2 to 4 inches of snow that was expected to fall in Huntington, Charleston and lowland areas with 4 to 8 inches expected for the mountains.
Eyewitness News Meteorologist Brandon Stover said the heaviest snowfall was expected to hit between noon and 4 p.m.
