A 10-year-old girl who was bitten by a dog in Pike County, Ky., was apparently attacked by a pit bull.
Kentucky State Police said the attack happened on Saturday in the Shelbiana community. A source close to the family said the dog was a pit bull that belonged to a neighbor and has since been put down. The source said the girl was playing at a friend's house when the dog escaped from a room and attacked her.
State Police are investigating the incident.
State Police said a child in Pike County, Ky., was hospitalized after being attacked by a dog.

Troopers are trying to determine if the dog belonged to anyone and if charges will be filed.
