When Beth Williams set up a camera with a timer to snap pictures of herself to send in to "Playboy" magazine, she had no idea how far she would go.

"They have hundreds of thousands of submissions a year," Williams said. "They only pick 12. And then they only pick one. So, it would be insane, you know, a girl from southern Ohio to win, so I want to bring it home."

A native of southeastern Ohio, and graduate of Point Pleasant High School and Ohio University, Williams was chosen by Hugh Hefner to be Miss August 2012. That makes her eligible to be named Playmate of the Year.

"Just the title, you could do a lot with it," Williams said. "You could help out charities. And then also, so much more work happens. It would just be a dream come true."

The Playmate of the Year wins a hundred thousand dollars, earns a cover appearance and represents the magazine for 12 months. Williams says winning would give her a powerful platform to promote and support several charitable causes which are close to her heart.

"I would like to do more with Wounded Warriors because they fight for our freedom," Williams said. "They're away from their families all of the time and they sacrifice their lives for us. So I'd like to do more with them. And then I'd like to help out homeless shelters, animal shelters and then also do some work with cerebral palsy because some people I know, unfortunately have it."

Williams says no matter how the Playmate of the Year voting ends up, working with the magazine has been a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"I think I would represent the company well," she said. "And, you know, if I win Playmate of the Year I'm not going to stop. I'm going to continue to work. I always have ideas in my head. I'm just a very hard worker."
