We need it to drink, bathe and cook, but when when your water supply is contaminated, it can put a damper on life.
Jeff Hamrick lives in the town of Bergoo in Webster County and said, "This is the 20th century, raw sewage shouldn't be going into the river."
Folks who live in Bergoo say once again, their well water is contaminated with sewage. They blame it on an 87 year ols sewer line that was recently ruptured when the power company installed a new pole. Members of the community say they have had issues with water contamination for several years and it's becoming costly.
Mickey Payne lives in Bergoo and said, "In the past 7 years I've spent close to 7 thousand dollars on water because of leakage to our well."
Payne says the contaminated water made his wife sick and he hopes the County will fix the problem before it affects others.
Hamrick said, "If it contaminates his well, we're afraid it'll contaminate the water table and get into everyone's well."
Mickey Payne says the County Commission has promised to resolve the problem by 2014. The water issue would've been resolved much early if funding wasn't a problem.
