A Charleston man accused of forcing his children to eat feces and convicted of sexually abusing a young female failed in his attempt to receive a lighter sentence.
Kanawha County Circuit Judge Tod Kaufman didn't agree with William Clere when he appeared in court Thursday. Instead, Kaufman upheld the 10 to 20-year prison sentence.
Clere told the courtroom that he would never do anything like that again and asked to be placed on home confinement.
Clere pleaded guilty last year to sexual abuse by a parent or guardian. As part of a plea deal, child abuse charges were dropped.
