A home in Barboursville was destroyed and a dog was killed after a fire tore through the residence.
The fire happened about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at a home on Francis Court in the Williamsburg Colony subdivision of Barboursville. One person was home at the time but was able to escape, a member of the Barboursville Fire Department said. The family's dog died in the blaze. The person who was home at the time was not injured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
