Several fire departments were at the scene of a house fire Wednesday afternoon on James River Road in Chelyan.
The blaze started about 1:10 p.m.
Resident Jewell Bonham said she and her dog were able to get out of the home safely. She believes the fire started in the furnace.
The home is owned by the Chelyan Masonic Lodge located across the street. The home was recently remodeled and a furnace was put in the residence.
