Numerous reports of high water were being reported early Wednesday morning.
The Court Street underpass in Charleston was flooded and closed about 8 a.m. Dispatchers in Kanawha County also advised they received reports of flooding in the Winefrede area.
Meanwhile, Logan County dispatchers said the Stollings area was flooded. Nicholas County dispatchers said the Muddlety area was experiencing flooding, and Route 3 in Lincoln County was flooded, forcing a school there to be closed Wednesday.
Motorists were urged to use caution while traveling throughout the morning, with showers expected to come to an end later Wednesday.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning in Greenbrier County, and Pike County, Kentucky, was under a flood advisory. Scattered showers were expected to taper tonight, but saturated streams are high.
Temperatures were expected to drop below freezing overnight, so black ice on area roadways also were a possibility. Snow in Beckley and the southern part of the state and in higher elevations is possible.
