The man deputies said robbed a Kanawha County convenience store early Wednesday morning has been taken into custody.
Gerald Martin Maxwell, 26, has been charged with armed robbery.
Deputies said he walked into the 7-11 convenience store in the Rand area about 2 a.m., showed a gun and demanded cash. They said the suspect made off with about $100.
It didn't take long for deputies to catch up with the suspect; they said he returned to the scene of the crime. When deputies asked him why he came back, Maxwell said, "I saw couple of you looking for me and you can't hide from the boys in blue," according to the news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
He was lodged in the South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bond.
