The price tag for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin's second inauguration is expected to cost far less than his predecessor's activities in 2009.
Initial estimates put the fundraising tab for the January inauguration at about $400,000. Official figures won't be filed with the Secretary of State's office until after final bills are paid.
The Charleston Daily Mail reports that, by comparison, former Gov. Joe Manchin's last set of inaugural activities in 2009 cost just more than $800,000.
Tomblin was sworn in during a scaled-down November inaugural after he won the special gubernatorial election in 2011.
Spokeswoman Amy Shuler Goodwin said the smaller price tag this year is more reflective of the Tomblins' style. The inaugural ball is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the Clay Center.
