Emergency crews responded Tuesday morning to a report of a tractor-trailer fire at a repair shop in South Charleston.
The fire was reported about 11:30 a.m. at Western Branch Diesel repair shop inside of Ordnance Park, which is just behind the South Charleston Stamping Plant. The truck caught on fire while partially in the garage. There were several explosions during the fire, likely caused by the tires blowing or combustible materials within the garage, according to firefighters.
The truck was destroyed but firefighters say the building only suffered minor damage because the sprinkler system contained most of the flames.
Workers say the truck's engine had just been tested. The mechanic turned the truck off and had just gone into a neighboring office when the fire started. No one was hurt in the fire. Firefighters are still trying to determine what started the fire.
