West Virginia State Police are investigating the fatal police shooting of an armed man outside Lewisburg.
State Police told The Register-Herald that officers shot Jimmy L. Hamlin Jr., 44, after he threatened them with a rifle Monday afternoon along U.S. 219.
Lewisburg police officers stopped Hamlin's vehicle after Greenbrier County dispatchers reported that he was armed and had been involved in a domestic dispute.
State Police said Hamlin didn't comply with the officers' directives. Troopers and officers from several other local departments then responded to the scene.
State Police said Hamlin got out of the vehicle and made a "hostile action" with the gun following a brief standoff. Officers shot him multiple times and he died at a local hospital.
The officers haven't been identified.
