A former convenience store owner in Huntington will spend six months in prison for food stamp fraud.
Abe Eliorzazi pleaded guilty in September 2012 to defrauding the food stamp program. He was sentenced Monday in federal court in Huntington.
Media outlets report that U.S. District Judge Robert Chambers also ordered Eliorzazi to pay $127,000 in restitution to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Federal prosecutors say Eliorzazi's All-In-One store was the center of an illegal scheme to cash federal food stamps. Two former employees received probation for their roles in the scheme.
Eliorzazi turned over the All-In-One store to the city as a condition of his plea. It has since been demolished.
