State Police said a Big Springs man was arrested for allegedly threatening to harm members of the Mid-Way Vadis Fire Department in Lewis County.
Gary Paul Ferrell, 54, was charged with making threats of terrorist acts, disturbance of an assembly and public intoxication, according to criminal complaints filed in Lewis County Magistrate Court.
State Police said the fire department was hosting a food drive on Friday when the suspect became aggravated because he was asked to leave due to improper behavior. The complaint said Ferrell then allegedly threatened people at the department with a firearm. About 40 to 50 people were present when the alleged threats were made, the complaint said.
The complaint said the suspect was stopped by Gilmer County law enforcement officers who said they observed an open bottle of liquor in the vehicle. State Police said his blood alcohol was tested and registered 0.018.
On New Year's Eve, Ferrell was charged with disorderly conduct by Parkersburg police after he allegedly tried to set his truck on fire.
