The Scioto County Sheriff's Office has asked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification to look into a suicide at the Scioto County Corrections Center.
Correction center staff noticed an inmate was missing at 10:30 p.m. Saturday during a count, according to a news release from the Scioto County Sheriff's Office.
Staff found the inmate dead of an apparent suicide inside of his cell, the release said. The inmate is identified as Jason T. Brown, 35, of New Boston.
Brown was being held for a failure to appear charge and a theft bench warrant, the release said. Sheriff Marty Donini said the inmate was the only one being held in the single-cell lockdown area.
