Winter Jam 2013 kicked off their east coast tour in the capital city Friday. Ten Christian acts took the stage including bands and speakers. Show goers shelled out $10 to attend and people reportedly had to be turned away because the arena reached full capacity. Headlining the tour was a guy who is no stranger to Christian music fans. TobyMac, formerly of DC talk, and his band took the stage last. The singer told the crowd that his parents were born and raised in West Virginia. Former American Idol contestant Jason Castro also took the stage, singing when the audience was encouraged to donate to a love offering. Organizers said for the first time in the history of the event, the money collected during the offering would be given to an organization that gives back to the community of Charleston, West Virginia -- the Union Mission.
