People in the community of Ashland, Ky., can breathe a little easier because the air quality has improved, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said.
In January, the state's Division for Air Quality requested that the air be tested to make sure Ashland is meeting the proper standards.
A member of the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet said the new designation could mean more economic development in the region.
