The rush to get Christmas gifts was replaced Wednesday with the rush to make Christmas returns.
Area residents headed back to the stores to return items they just did not want -- the ugly sweater they would never wear . . . the pair of pants that just doesn’t fit . . . the identical tie they received last year.
In many cases, they flocked to the stores to take advantage of steep discounts. Experts were predicting that consumers would see prices slashed as much as 80 percent after the numbers for Christmas sales weren’t as good as expected.
