Tis the season to give.
And one woman in Boone County truly believes it is always better to give than to receive.
So you could call Eva Walker-Chafin Mrs. Christmas herself. Christmas is her favorite holiday and also her favorite reason to give.
"I have a good feeling knowing that I gave something rather than to receive because like I tell the kids I don't need anything. I just want to give."
And every Christmas, Eva does just that. She gives.
She spends all year sewing blankets, pillows. soft books, and scarves.
You name it and she's probably made it with her own hands to be given away at Christmas.
"I really enjoy giving these lap blankets to the nursing home."
Eva gives her creations to family members, neighbors, and friends. But it's the nursing homes that mean the most to her when it comes to giving.
"Really what I wanted to do was give to the ones that didn't have a family that came. I said I would rather give to the ones that never has a family to come and they're very lonely. And that was my favorite thing to do, to see that they got it. So that little thing would bring some joy to them."
A joy Eva loves to see, especially during the season of giving.
"I just enjoy Christmas very, very much. Of course I always remember birthdays, but Christmas is my favorite time to give."
