It's a Christmas controversy under the golden arches. McDonald's wants to see if their employees want to work on Christmas Day.
There are 96 McDonald's restaurants in the Tri-State and 6 of them will be open Tuesday. Corporate is asking all it's stores to see if workers will volunteer to work on Christmas. But, it's up to each individual franchise owner whether they open the doors and if they want to pay workers extra. The six stores in our region that plan to open on the holiday are in Charleston's East End, Kanawha City, Elkview and Patrick St. because they are close to interstate.
Tom Wolf owns 14 franchise stores in the Tri-State and says he plans to close them on the holiday. "It's personal with me, we don't need to go there yet. While I'm involved, we want to be open for Christmas."
Wolf says public demand will be the deciding factor if he opens his stores on the holiday in the future.
